Child marriages
For almost 40 years, Afghanistan’s children have been affected by conflict. Afghan children face one of the worst chances of survival anywhere in the world. Parents need support to buy food for their children as they cannot depend on fall harvests to feed their families. Lats 10 years, almost half of the young women, when interviewed, confided that they were given in marriage before the age of 18. This early marriage could result in serious health problems among young women, especially when these young women are not yet ready to go through the experience of pregnancy.
